A new blog for the New Year.

First I would like to say welcome to all our new members, Gary Lucas and myself really value and appreciate all our members and without your input the page would not be the fun place it is, the page is at a colossal 1300+ members now! We never thought the page would become this popular.
Thank you very much guys and girls for getting involved...

I would like to take this opportunity to remember a true fishing legend, 'Fred Crouch' who sadly passed away on Sunday 19th January 2014 R.I.P Fred, our sincerest thoughts go out to his family, friends and everyone he inspired over the years. I never met Fred but all the messages I saw yesterday on facebook make me feel he was the true Prince Of The River.

I unfortunately have not been out on the banks since October last year due to being made redundant from my job. My last trip was our first page fish in on the gorgeous River Derwent in Derby, it was a great success and may I add a fantastic laugh. We could not have chose a better bunch of guys, if only the fishing was as good? Only a handful of fish were caught and sadly No Barbel but a couple of decent chub were caught and a river Carp. Jamie Edmonds had a very nice specimen Chub at 6lb 13oz.

Gary Lucas had another specimen Chub at 5lb 14oz.

Jamie Edmonds with his 9lb 11oz Common Carp.

I also managed a 5lb+ Chub, as for the rest of them they were bloody useless, especially Kevin Attwood who must have covered the whole stretch three or four times over rolling meat to No avail. Gary Day wobbled his way through the 2 days and poor old Westlife didn't manage  a fish either. As for Steven Bond he should drink less Stella at night and poor old Steve Ward had to be looked after by Gary as he kept needing a wee due to his age, bless.

As for the weather well what could be said? It has been absolutely horrible and wet for a long time with many rivers bursting their banks and causing chaos up and down the country, apparently according to a UKIP party member this is down to Gay marriage being made legal? There are some really strange people trying to run our country?

Despite the weather fish have been coming out and those that have braved the conditions have seen some nice results so very well done to you all!

The page had a fantastic response to the survey with some very interesting information being gathered, so thank you to all that got involved. I know the notifications got a tad tedious but well done, the answers to the survey have been stored in the files section at the top of our page along with all our past Q&A files. We are thinking of bringing back the Q&A for an end of season session, if there is enough interest that is? We had lined up fishing legend Des Taylor for one at the end of last year but we had to cancel it because of me! We will try to get Des back on board for the end of the season?

This blog is going to be a bit of a short one due to me be being lazy since the last one and not gathering enough info from the page and keeping it up to date? Once again Gary and I would like to thank each and everyone of our page members new and old for your continued interaction and making it a fun and friendly place to visit. Please keep sharing your captures, stories, advice, pictures, tips and keep those questions coming!

Tight lines guys and girls.
